It was hard to get started this morning. I certainly didn't feel like spending my usual 2 hours in the morning doing affiliate links. I laid in bed with Lexi and we watched some soccer while figuring out our day. She was overworked and a bit stressed out, so she wanted to get away for a day or two. I have never been to Palm Springs, so she booked us 2 nights at a resort hotel there. We planned on leaving after the Super Bowl which gave us the day to get everything done.
She went to Pop Physique class and I left to run some errands before hitting the gym myself.
Have I told you guys how much I love Coinstar? It is one of my great joys in life. I hoard change like a homeless person, and dump it into the center console of my car. Seriously, I am that weirdo that picks up pennies off the ground. When I lived in England in 2011, I was so happy when I found a Coinstar machine out there. Remember England has like 5 extra coins to collect!
Almost 30 bucks! That's gas money right there!
After that, I deposited a bunch of checks in the bank, filled up the tank, picked up some Gatorade, vacuumed the inside of my car, and then headed to the gym.
I am doing the Ironman Texas Triathlon in Houston on May 17th and the day is getting closer and closer. I have a tracker on my browser that I check daily because I am obsessive compulsive of course. lol
My workout today was no fucking joke. But to be honest, that made me happy because the harder I work out, the worse I can eat during the Super Bowl. Genius!
After running 7.97 miles in 71 minutes, I hit the pool but after 1200 yards, I just felt like getting back to the house.
Lexi was still not in a very good mood, and I hate stress with a passion (something I have touched on many times in this blog), so we didn't say much to each other for a few hours. The Super Bowl started and we watched it in silence, before she leaned over, kissed me, and said she loves me. Good times!
The Super Bowl sucked, it was a blowout and the commercials were brutal too.
When the game ended, we packed up a few supplies and hit the road. I drank my first flavored carbonated beverage, my old addiction, Rockstar, in order to stay wide awake for the drive.
Palm Springs is a bit less than 2 hours away from Los Angeles, and its a scenic, easy drive to make. Lexi and I took Cooper, her trusty Boston Terrier, because the resort was dog friendly.
We made it to town around 10pm. The main drag is pretty cool, lots of cool restaurants, shops, and offices. I love the decor of the main street, its really classy and cool.
We headed for a casino first, because Lexi loved the noodle bar there. And she was completely correct! I had hot & sour soup, the general tsao chicken (my all time favorite), and pork fried rice. DELICIOUS!
After dinner I wanted to play some blackjack, but tragically I left my debit cards back in the car. Whoops! I guess that little oversight might have saved me a few bucks.
We checked into our hotel room and it was spacious and very plush. There is a sweet pool as well with a big hot tub. Can't wait for tomorrow! Rest, relaxation, shopping, poker, and good food is on the agenda.
Of course when we were scrolling through the TV Channels, we found the adult section. And look who is on the cover of literally the 3rd movie on the list...
that's just fantastic!
